Say it Aint So Obama
Okay so the big news yesterday was that Barrack Obama was on the daytime television, fluff news show, The View. He went on after much criticism from various people and even got a tongue lashing by Rosie O’Donnell. Apparently they didn’t like the fact that a president in office should not be making the talk show circuits, although he has been on The View before and other shows as well, such as David Letterman.
Although I think the man probably has much more important things to do, I wonder what prompted him to want to appear on this show at this time, I thought that he made a pretty good appearance, he is after all a superstar. Everyone was pretty much all aglow at the sight of him and you can just imagine Oprah Winfrey foaming at the mouth that she didn’t get him for her show, and after all she did for him too. Oh well she should have known better than to trust a politician.
I was surprised to see Barbara Walters actually come out of her crypt to appear on the show since she has been taking it easy after her heart procedure recently. I guess the President on her show was too big a thing for her to stay away from.
All in all the President really didn’t answer any important questions and you could tell that he was trying real hard to be witty. He mentioned that The View is one of the few shows that his wife Michelle actually watches and that it was the only one that he would consider appearing on (sorry Oprah) since they do such a good job at presenting the news WHAT? Anyway, he also mentioned that he wasn’t invited to the Wedding of the Century starring Chelsea Clinton. He said that one president at a wedding was enough.
You would’ve thought he was on the campaign trail already the way he went on and on about the war in Afghanistan and he really didn’t answer anything concrete about the war but did a lot of tap dancing around some of the more important questions. He also mentioned that he heard about Lindsey Lohan’s troubles, who hasn’t?
It really is a sign of the times though when you think about it, being the first black president and being the first sitting president to appear on daytime television, he is just infuriating people left and right. Well he did say that he was going to bring some major changes to America and that he did whether the American people like it or not.
Now I do have to admit that I drank the kool-aid and people may critisize me for it if they want but I cant help liking Barack Obama! I certainly am not saying that he is the best president that we have ever had but I don’t think that he will be the worst when it is all said and done. However, I do think he should have rethunk the whole idea of appearing on the show, it felt like he was skipping work, calling in sick when we all know that he wasn’t. I mean isn’t there a country somewhere in need of some assistance? Oh yea the United States does.

I completely missed it!
Well, I think Obama's idea of a 'new politican' is to be genuinely connected with people in most popular and intriguing ways. Not in a folksy farm-type manner (hell, that's just dull!), but really reaching the widest appeal; and our American pop culture is the best medium. Hence we have Jay-Z parties in da white house, appearances on the View (and later maybe, Extra?), having beer with two guys of opposite race because of some nonsense in front of the White House... It works, although it's, indeed, unusual for a politician, whom we consider a rather conservative figure of highly ritualized qualities.
But think about it, it's very American and youthful, the future should belong to new politicians.
He should have attended the Boy Scouts of America jamboree. Appearing on the View was very un-presidential. Furthermore, this man is constantly campaigning. That is all he does and I am sick of it. Go to the Gulf, visit the troops, be a president.
Valerie, I am not going to mince words...not a fan of the Prez...never have been. Considering all that is going on, I think his time could have been much better used 1. Going to Arizona and looking at the border issue first-hand 2. Showing up at 100th Anniversary of The Boy Scouts, an organization quite famous for creating leaders here in America. Sometimes marching to a different drum does not bode well when one is responsible for the future and welfare of others. This guy has too many friends that seem to be drawn to socialism and communism to leave me with any comfort level regarding his intentions. His actions thus far in office also tend to support the direction and desires of those people. This stuff has no place in America and threatens the fabric of our country. I find no comfort in that. Thanks for a good review on the "View" appearance! WB
VH,
Like Wayne i shall not mince words - i disagree with you on one point - HE WILL go down as the worst president ever. Sorry to say i was alive to see it- he could have been a great uniting figure but he decided another path one of pure partisan politics ans Chicago thug style politics he has blown a real opportunity to truly help race relations in the US instead he has by defacto policies split the country on partisan AND race lines even further- sad to say but it's true his total ignorance of the decorum of the office he will hold for another 2 years is an abhorant shame-
I hope you don't mind but I am going to steal my own words and turn it into a hub...
regards
TH
I am not a big fan of Obama anymore, but he certainly can't go down being worse that George dubya. He's starting to look a little bit like good ole George. Some of the things they say are exactly the same. But then I have my own ideas of what really goes on in the government. Good hub.
He definately made history becoming the first black president and all, but I have to agree that there certainly were better places he could have been serving at instead of "the view". In my opinion - that show doesn't allow you to express your views at times, but I have only watched it once when O'Reilly was on there - that's another story altogether. We have two more years of Mr. Obama - I just pray he starts listening to the people of this country and not follow his own agenda. Thanks for sharing - it was insightful to say the least.
I believe that "your view" on the show Obama attended is much more balanced and objective than many of the comments I read here. It was for sure a poor choice, but using every opportunity to shred him to pieces and ignore any of his attempts to repair some of the damage that he inherited, is not fair either. I would not be surprized if, according to some of the commentators here, Obama sank the Titanic.
I agree with Petra Vlah for the most part in that Obama gets blamed for everything he inherited. He sure didn't sink the Titanic, The Bush administration did that for him. I just fear that Obama is being forced to carry on with the previous administrations crap. He was supposed to bring our troops home but it seems as though he wants to start more wars. What is really going on here?

He is the President. This is not what Presidents should do. Close to the election, maybe. But now? WTH (heck)?
